Trying to find the time

O.K.  The title kind of says it all.  Our busy lives tend to make it more difficult to find time to put in a dedicated workout.  I am seriously at fault here right now.  I didn't work out last Friday because it was Friday.  So last Saturday I ran while Bella, my toddler, road her bicycle at my husband's work.  Sunday I didn't get much in either then come last Monday evening & I was hit with a stomach bug that took me out for two days.  So, I tried to fit in a workout on Wednesday and it didn't happen.  Bella wanted to monopolize my time.  Between taking care of things at home & work it's not always easy to find a dedicated 30 minutes of free time.

I was getting so frustrated because I felt like somehow I was going to have to physically leave my home to get a workout in because I really am determined to stay active now.  I was worried that I was going to have to go to a gym at 10:30 at night after Bella & my husband went to sleep so that I could have uninterrupted time.  But, that would cut into my sleep time also.  I thought about just getting up at 4:30 a.m. to try to get a work out in before I get ready for work but I can't get to sleep early enough to wake up that early.

So, how do I solve this dilemma?  I asked a group on Facebook that I am part of called A Strong New Me & these wonderful ladies suggested fitting in my "workout" while I'm at work & at home doing every day things.  Such as doing some squats while at the copier, dancing with my toddler in the house, or any little spot of activity that I can fit in.

Now I am fitting in bursts of activity where I can without feeling guilty or like I am missing something.  Saturday my niece kept Bella for a while so I was able to get a dedicated workout in of 30 minutes.  Today, Bella & I went on a walk since the weather was so nice.  I put her in her stroller & we walked briskly around town for a good 25 minutes.  I've also made a point of trying to stay active on the weekends at home & not really sit still.

It made for a productive weekend for me.  Since Bella was with my niece, my husband was at work, & so were my teenagers, I had time to focus on what I wanted & needed to do on Saturday.  Along with getting my workout in I was able to take everything out of my refrigerator & scrub it clean.  I then rearranged the shelves to where we actually had more room.  I also cleaned out one of my pantries & got it completely organized.  This way I was able to see what we had & what I needed to get at the grocery store.  Then I got to go to HEB without any interruptions.  I took my time walking the perimeter of the store & hardly going down the other aisles except for a few of the necessities we needed.  Now our refrigerator and pantry are stocked with healthier options & easier meal preps for us.

No, I didn't get to do meal prep today like I really wanted to but I hope to get some done tomorrow evening after work.  We all have to make choices of what's more important to each of us.  Today, it was more important for me to spend time with Bella and our walk was the best.  Hopefully you can find the time to do your activities too.  Here's to getting better.
